January 10 marks World Hindi Day — the anniversary of the first World Hindi Conference held in Nagpur, India in 1975. On January 10, 2026, the International Hindi Association marked this global celebration with programs across all 13 chapters and a special virtual ceremony that brought together over 400 participants from across North America.
The theme for World Hindi Day 2026 was "Hindi: Bridging Generations, Connecting Continents." The day's programs featured readings of Hindi poetry, performances of classical Hindi songs, brief talks by young members on what Hindi means to them, and the launch of IHA's new "30 Days of Hindi" challenge — a month-long digital initiative encouraging members to practice one Hindi word, phrase, or poem each day.
