Phone conversations have their own special phrases in Hindi. Here is a complete phone dialogue!
Caller (फ़ोन करने वाला): हेलो? (Hello?)
Receiver (फ़ोन उठाने वाला): हेलो, कौन बोल रहा/रही है? (Hello, who is speaking?)
Caller: मैं रमेश बोल रहा हूँ। क्या अमित घर पर हैं? (This is Ramesh speaking. Is Amit at home?)
Receiver: नहीं, वह अभी नहीं हैं। (No, he is not here right now.)
Caller: ठीक है। क्या आप उन्हें संदेश दे सकते हैं? (OK. Can you give him a message?)
Receiver: ज़रूर। (Of course.)
Caller: बोलिए कि मैंने फ़ोन किया। (Tell him that I called.)
Receiver: ठीक है। धन्यवाद। (OK. Thank you.)
Caller: धन्यवाद। अलविदा। (Thank you. Goodbye.)
